Galina Stetco was born in 1975 in Moldova. In 2000, she earned a degree in architecture from the Technical University of Moldova in Chisinau. She immigrated to Canada in 2003 and has since lived in the Greater Montreal area.<\/p>\n\n
Born under a communist regime and later witnessing the fall of the Soviet Union, she moves through life with a certain serenity, yet always against a backdrop of underlying anxiety.<\/p>\n\n
She began painting at the age of 10 and became interested in sculpture in 2013. Her professional background allows her to develop a visual language rooted in both fine arts and architecture \u2014 disciplines that quickly became structural pillars of her identity.<\/p>\n\n
A polyglot \u2014 fluent in French, English, Romanian, and Russian \u2014 Stetco embodies a genuine openness to the world, reflected in the international reach of her career. Her works are part of private collections in Canada, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Moldova, Italy, Switzerland, and Egypt, and have been exhibited in international symposiums.<\/p>\n\n

Stetco\u2019s work activates a profound sense of connection between humans and nature, or between individuals and society, viewed as entities of full integrity within the world. While these themes may appear romantic at first glance, the intensity of her treatment captivates through depth and spatial construction, echoing the human condition.<\/p>\n\n
Her visual language draws as much from her architectural background as from her figurative sensibility. Through geometric forms rooted in her training, she explores the plurality of a non-linear reality, building compositions where abstraction and figuration coexist.<\/p>\n\n
A pivotal moment in her practice is embodied in the work Immigrant<\/strong>, a synthesis of her artistic universe. This life-sized figurative sculpture transcends clich\u00e9s: a woman, unsteady in her stance, marked by accumulated scars of displacement.
