A violin, its bow, and several sheets of music appear to float within a musical current flowing throughout the composition. Carried by broad, sweeping movements, the notes rise and circulate freely, as though the music were leaving the instrument to continue its journey far beyond the artwork.

In this work, Hélène Lafontaine evokes music’s power to bring people together: a universal language capable of crossing earthly, cultural, and linguistic boundaries. Each note becomes an invisible bond between peoples, as well as between artists around the world who share the ability to communicate emotion without the need for words.

The warmth of the violin stands out vividly against a textured surface composed of whites, greys, blues, and ochres. Natural fragments incorporated into the composition lend an organic and sensitive presence, while the sheet music and sweeping luminous ribbons suggest a melody in continuous motion. Between earth, matter, and musical breath, the artwork celebrates a harmony that travels, gathers, and unites.
