Humanity’s struggle with nature is one of the oldest conflicts in human history. Yet in the modern world, this struggle has evolved from an attempt to understand nature and live alongside it into a desire to control and possess it.

In this sculpture, the human figure fights and defeats a snake, a symbol of nature. The motionless snake beneath the figure’s feet represents humanity’s victory over nature. The figure proudly raises the apple in its hand, declaring its triumph. Yet the most significant element of this victory is the expressionless face of the figure. There is neither joy nor satisfaction in its expression.

Because the victory achieved here is, in fact, humanity’s own defeat.

The desire to possess the riches of nature, to exploit it without limits, and to transform it according to human interests ultimately leads to the destruction of the world in which we live. The death of the snake represents not only the destruction of nature, but also humanity’s consumption of its own habitat and, ultimately, itself.

The figure proudly holding the apple becomes a symbolic representation of the wealth and resources humanity has acquired. Yet behind this achievement lies a lost nature. As humanity destroys nature, it destroys a part of itself as well.

The geometricized body and muted colors further emphasize this contradiction. As humanity attempts to dominate nature, it gradually distances itself from nature’s organic structure and transforms into a mechanical being that has also lost touch with its own spirit.

The moment humanity believes it has defeated nature, it has actually defeated itself.
