Eder Olguin

"I believe the freedom to choose any topic or theme is the fundamental value of all art forms. Also, the idea of creating works of art that are a bit humorous and absurd appeals to me." – Eder Olguin

Biography

Eder (1989, Puebla, Mexico) is a young emerging artist who uses painting as a means of expression and main mode of exchange. His experience has been built around key events in different countries, different contexts, which has thus enriched the multicultural aspect of his work (Japan, Spain, Mexico, Italy and France). In 2017, he obtained the Academic Diploma in Painting at the School of Fine Arts in Naples, Italy.

The same year he started studies around a master of Plastic Arts in the Faculty of Arts of the Panthéon Sorbonne University in Paris where he lives and works in his studio among those of 59 Rivoli.

He defines his work as being a mixture of contemporary influences and avant-garde movements, bringing together the pictorial gesture with an image in constant evolution. Finally, he seeks to reflect in his works the representation of his ephemeral memory whether anecdotal or narrative.

Artist’s statement

Description of the serie « Soirées parisiennes »

Here, we find the search for an ephemeral memory of everyday life. The memory of a moment that disappears as soon as it changes. The details that remain present in the memory as well as an atmosphere and a gesture are transposed into a simplified image made accessible to all, almost in an abstract way. It is a work around the particularity of various common situations of life.
