In Goldwish, Galina Stetco depicts a figure caught in a moment of quiet anticipation. One hand is extended, seemingly waiting for a bird to land upon it, as though inviting freedom to come closer. Yet the bird is already there: nestled near the heart, visible through an opening in the figure’s body.
This contrast gives the work its symbolic strength. The freedom we sometimes seek outside ourselves may already live deeply within us. The fragmented, open body becomes a passage toward the inner self, revealing what remains alive and precious despite the wounds and traces left by life.
Through her figurative approach and ongoing reflection on the human condition, Galina Stetco creates a work that is both fragile and powerful, where the small golden bird becomes a symbol of hope, freedom, and the inner strength we carry within ourselves.
