Man of concern — 48 in x 14 in x 13.5 in, welded stainless steel

With Man of concern, Galina Stetco evokes the deep connection between human beings and the space they inhabit. The male figure, made of approximately 2,000 stainless steel rectangles, holds a tree in his hands. These metal fragments symbolically represent the leaves the tree has lent to create the silhouette of a man, as though nature itself were taking part in the making of the human form.

In this work, the tree becomes more than a visual element: it stands for the universe, for nature, to which we are profoundly connected. Through this encounter between the human figure and the tree, Galina Stetco offers a sensitive reflection on our relationship with the living world, our interdependence, and our awareness of what surrounds us. The sculpture conveys a presence that is both strong and meditative, where industrial material is transformed into a poetic language expressing fragility, responsibility, and belonging.
