In Entre l’ombre et la lumière, Claudine Dontigny brings delicate flowers to life within a richly textured and abundant surface. Turquoise-blue stems rise through the composition, drawing the eye toward orange blossoms whose dark, freely rendered outlines heighten their expressive character.

A palette of greens, yellows and blues creates a vibrant environment in which the vegetation seems to emerge from and dissolve into the painted surface. Moving between luminous areas and deeper passages, the work explores contrast and conveys a sense of nature in constant transformation. The pronounced textures and spontaneity of the artist’s gestures give the composition an organic energy while leaving ample room for personal interpretation.
